The building of the “Municipal Tobacco Warehouse” (built around 1900) situated in the central “Kapnergatis” square of Kavala, meaning “specialized tobacco worker” dedicated to the struggles of the tobacco industry workers’ rights is a significant building of the city – port of Kavala featuring Ottoman, Neoclassical and Baroque elements originally built and used as a tobacco warehouse by the Turkish tobacco merchant Kizi Mimin. Nowadays, the renovated “Tobacco Warehouse” which covers an area of 5.500 square meters in three levels is the Municipality’s main venue for a multitude of events like exhibitions, seminars, conferences and other cultural activities and events.
