Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

The Shota Rustaveli State University is a multi-profile educational and research institution offering programs in natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, technology, medicine, etc. The university building, constructed in the end of the 19th century according to the designs of the Tbilisi-based Polish architect A. Shimkewicz, was originally meant to be a boys school. This monumental building characterized by Classicist style comprises nearly the whole block. Its main façade opens onto a broad square and the sea.
