The monastery complex began its “life” back in the 60s of the 1st cent., given that Apostle Andrew the Protocletus (the First Called) himself lived in the nearby cave for years. This is one of the most sacred places in Europe. The cathedral is impressively and brilliantly painted. Every year on St. Andrew’s day, the 30th of November, tens of thousands of believers from all parts of Romania, and recently from Bulgaria, fill up the entire surrounding area.
